Recap of Back to School Night...

Thank you all so much for attending back to school night. It was so wonderful meeting the faces behind my students!

As for the parents who unfortunately could not make it, no worries... everything is right here!

As the year goes by I will be posting in here weekly. My most frequent posts will be up on either Mondays or Fridays. The post will include a class progress report from the previous week as well as a "glance" and agenda of the week we have ahead. These posts will be titled "WEEK AT A GLANCE" followed by a month and week number ( i.e.: 9.1 meaning September, week 1). Look out for them as they will have classwork, homework, tests, projects and what not. I will also be posting about weekly winners (class behavior plan) as well as any exciting events that occur as the year goes on.

At back to school night I also had parents decorate a bookmark for our students with pictures of their siblings, parents, grandparents, pets, and any hobbies and interest your child might have. Each day students will read for 15 minutes. Students also get reading time after they have finished any work and are waiting or other classmates. The age your children are at is very exciting so they may lackk attention, I am having you decorate these bookmarks to keep them motivated to read. The book mark is pretty small so hopefully you can fit it all. These should be sent back in with your child whenever they are completed.

This week was a wonderful week. We made snow men with different shapes and some of us finished our persuasive essays. The whole class earned extra recess today because of their outstanding behavior. Hopefully next week will be just as fabulous! We will be doing lots of math and writers workshop again. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Welcome to second grade!

Hello class and welcome to second grade! My name is Miss Selvaggio, but you can call me "Miss S." I hope you are all having a safe and fun summer, I sure am. Unfortunately it is coming to an end but the bright side is that I will be meeting all of you in just a few weeks!

This year in our second grade class we will be using this blog frequently so you and your guardians at home can keep up with what is going on in our classroom! Do not worry if those at home are not "tech. savvy"  because on the first day and back to school night I will teach both students and parents how to use and browse this blog.

I am so excited to meet all of you and start this school year.
In order for it to run smoothly you all will need:

  • Pencils
  • Highlighters
  • Folders ( 3)
  • Ruler
  • Box of tissues
  • Crayons

See you all in September :)
